Smithfield High School Science and Media Center
Smithfield, Rhode Island
RGB designed additions and upgrades to the existing high school. The addition housed a new media center and computer lab as well as science and laboratory classrooms. Glass corner windows are representative of science and technology; cantilevers of steel and louvers are for conducting exterior science experiments. Each science room has dual stations for lab and classroom settings. Computer and networking capabilities were added, as well as secondary porch exhaust fans to eliminate toxic fumes. The media center was designed with high-speed Internet capabilities and new computer lab. The project was awarded by American School & University for Educational Interior Design Excellence.
