Rhode Island School of Design Mail Room

Bold and brightly colored, and also quite detailed, this design project is set amid blocks of colonial and revivalist architecture in downtown Providence on the city campus. Students come to the mail room to retrieve letters and packages and to mail out those of their own. At night, the brightly lit space, with its ochre colored wood panels capped by a rich blue banding, is framed by a turn of the century cast-iron facade.
