La Salle Academy Shea Science and Student Center

Providence, Rhode Island

RGB's design for the new science and student center design at La Salle Academy, a private preparatory school, was recognized as an Outstanding High School Building in American School and University's 2005 Architectural Portfolio awards. The project was completed in 2004 at a cost of $8.2 million.

The existing 46,000 square foot facility needed increase program space for science curricula and and for a student center. Eleven laboratory classrooms were designed with a combination model of lab and group instructional seating in the same room. The student center is comprised of media-equipped classrooms, lecture rooms, and a 450-seat cafeteria with a commercial-grade kitchen. The student center also serves as a more centralized location for the campus ministry, which includes a chapel and office space.
